Starting in November, Facebook and Instagram will no longer be free, as confirmed by Meta in a recent press release. The company is launching a new payment model in the European Union (EU) and Switzerland. Users can still access services for free but must agree to meta-tracking, data collection, and targeted advertising.
Users who do not consent to these conditions will have to pay €9.99 per month for web access or €12.99 per month for iOS or Android access. For an ad-free experience on both desktop and mobile platforms, users will have to shell out approximately €22.99 per month. Additional accounts will cost an extra €8 per account per month.
The company's website states that this move is in response to changing European regulations: "We are introducing a new subscription option in the EU, EEA and Switzerland starting from November. Users of Facebook or Instagram living in these regions can choose between using our personalized services for free with ads or paying a subscription fee to remove ads. While subscribed, user information will not be used for advertising purposes."
